Why HHT?

    • My teaching career began in 1991 in a small village, called Itri, in the Central/Southern part of Italy, by setting up an English Language School.
    • After taking my RSA Cambridge University TEFLA course in Rome, I decided, as a qualified English Language Teacher, to open my own school. It immediately had an impact on the small village and I began giving group and individual lessons to children, teenagers and adults.
    • In the years I taught in mainstream schools as an external expert implementing projects through the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), preparing students to take international examinations.
    • In 2011 I became an Oral Cambridge Examiner and since have specialised in preparing students for exams from Young Learners, Starters, Movers and Flyers, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE to IELTS.
    • I have worked in Companies (Heinz / Plasmon/Francia Latticini/Pasta Paone) and schools (Massimiliano Massimo Institute, Language In Action, Shenker, Accademia Britannica) in Formia, Latina and Rome.
    • I have taught International, Chinese and Japanese groups of students at Summer School in London for 5 summers. (Harrow Short Courses).

My main aim is to help each individual in their personal learning needs. Everyone is different, and in language learning some may need to adopt a different more personalised approach to help bring out the best communicative skills in English.

In the years in Italy I have enjoyed sharing my experience, the knowledge and the culture I grew up with in London. So now is the time for me to give students the opportunity to come to London and have a true taste of life here.

Reviews

Here is a teacher and school that I would highly recommend to everyone, for both the young and not so young. I do this through my direct experience having had Marisa Savoia as a teacher. She has taken me through many years of English language learning, presenting interesting lessons based on conversation and current affairs, expanding on the use of grammar. Thanks to these lessons I reached a more than satisfying level of English, leading to brilliantly passing an end of course exam.
Fully recommended.

Domenico Lorello, Itri

I attended private English lessons with Marisa at Shenker School in Latina and I couldn’t have made a better decision. When I started my lessons, my English level was basic and I wasn’t able to carry out a conversation. We started by analysing all the grammar rules and idioms, focusing on vocabulary of different daily life situations in a very dynamic way. Then we focused on conversation and phonetics so as I could bring what I was learning into a real dialogue. I can now say that this method was the key for my journey in learning proper English. Besides, what distinguishes Marisa, apart from her high level of education, is her priceless kindness, willingness and friendliness.
A while after the start of my English class with her I applied to an international Medical School in Rome, did an entrance exam completely in English (International medical admission test) and I got in!
I will never thank her enough for what she did for me and I hope many other students will get this opportunity.

Stefano Rezk, Latina

Marisa has worked with our school for many years. She represented professional excellence both as a teacher and as a Cambridge Assessment English examiner. She mostly taught courses for the preparation of International examinations to students of various ages, in particular to High School, University and Adult students. Our students miss her and so do we!

Teresa Belli, Managing Director, LIA Language in Action, Rome.

I followed a course with Marisa after having completed my High School Diploma in Foreign Languages. I could hardly speak or write any English, I had studied a lot of Literature at school, but I couldn’t use the language in everyday situations. The courses I took allowed me to reach a First Certificate Level. After this I was able to teach horse-riding to Americans without any problems. I am able to speak both British and American English fluently. Thank you Marisa.

Giovanna Carbone, Gaeta.

I had the pleasure of having Marisa as my English teacher when she was in Latina, Italy. I did enjoy every minute of learning with her and I did not just learn how to speak English but also had great insights about English culture. To all us students Marisa has been more than a teacher, she has always been tough on the learning but at the same time kind and very welcoming. Marisa has a great emotional intelligence and you will understand the value added by Marisa straightaway. When I moved to England Marisa gave me great advice and I will never forget the time spent together and the numerous occasions we met both in England and in Italy for a chat.

Enrico Bora, Aprilia.

I wanted to thank you for the excellent work you did with us. It was a pleasure practising my English with you and improving day in day out. Your teaching method is engaging and inspiring and your new students are very lucky.

Marina Stamegna, Francia Latticini, Sonnino.

I wanted to thank you so much for the excellent work done with us not so long ago. It was a pleasure improving our English with you day after day. It would be very nice to have you back with us again as an English teacher, even though I imagine this won’t be possible. But, never say never. Thank you and hope to see you soon.

Massimiliano Giorgetta, Francia Latticini, Sonnino.

I met Marisa some years ago at the Shenker school in Latina. I was very happy to discover she spoke both English and Italian perfectly because that, at the time, made me feel more confident.
I had many individual lessons and group conversations with Marisa and I could see she is a very good teacher. She’s very experienced and communicative.
She’s very expert at managing individual lessons in an appropriate way for every single student. She knows how to help you speak in English even if you are a beginner. I remember how she used to be able to make me speak for an hour, despite I was unsure how to do it.
In group conversations, she can involve everyone in dialogue and in interesting activities. I remember at the end of lesson we were always satisfied because we had learned a lot!
Marisa is an extremely competent teacher and a special person too! She is friendly, generous and optimistic. I am delighted to have met her and proud to have been her student.
Thank you Marisa!

Anna Parrella, Latina.

I was the first student who was lucky to try this unforgettable experience! Thanks so much to my teacher Marisa who made me feel at home and really helped me improve my English. The lessons were personalized and focused on my academic needs. The accommodation was comfortable, located near the station, hence well-linked to the centre of London. Delicious food! I’m very satisfied and delighted to have met Marisa, always kind and helpful not only for my English needs. I strongly recommend this experience to everyone.

Maria Grazia Liguori, Aprilia.
